Common Questions
Practical help with Birchmeier sprayers, seals, batteries, nozzles and replacement parts.
What is the difference between NBR and Viton seals?
NBR is nitrile rubber. Viton is a trade name for fluorocarbon rubber, also called FKM or FPM. The materials have different resistance to liquids, heat and ageing.
| Seal material | General characteristics | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| NBR / nitrile | Good wear resistance and resistance to many oils and fuels. | The exact liquid and the approved uses of your sprayer. |
| Viton / FKM | Generally greater heat and weathering resistance, with resistance to many chemicals. | The complete formulation, concentration and temperature. FKM is not suitable for every chemical. |
Viton is not a universal upgrade. The tank, hose, pump, valve and nozzle must also be compatible. A seal’s heat resistance does not increase the sprayer’s permitted operating temperature.
Can I change NBR seals to Viton?
Use only a seal kit approved for your exact sprayer model and version. Replacing seals alone does not make the whole unit suitable for a different chemical. Contact Agralan with the article number and liquid details before changing the seal specification.
How do I know whether a sprayer suits my liquid?
Check the model’s chemical compatibility guidance and the liquid supplier’s instructions. Formulation, dilution, temperature and contact time all matter. Colour coding is a guide, rather than a guarantee. For advice, send us the liquid name, safety data sheet and intended dilution.
Which sprayers can be used in contact with food?
Choose a model expressly intended for food contact. Birchmeier identifies Grill Star 0.5 and both Food-Matic 1.25 P versions for this purpose. A stainless steel tank or a particular seal material alone does not establish food-contact suitability.
Should I choose a manual or battery sprayer?
Compare the area to cover, frequency of use, required pressure and flow, carrying weight and liquid compatibility. Manual equipment can suit occasional work. Battery equipment avoids repeated hand pumping and may help with longer tasks. Check the performance and pressure control of each model.
Are all batteries and chargers interchangeable?
No. Check the system and approved batteries and chargers for your exact model. Some Birchmeier products use the 18 V Cordless Alliance System (CAS); this does not mean every 18 V battery fits. Check whether your chosen supply option includes a battery and charger.
How do I choose a nozzle?
Match the spray pattern, flow and operating pressure to your task and liquid. Confirm the connection, nozzle material and seals too. Follow the nozzle data and the application product’s instructions: a nozzle that physically fits may still deliver the wrong output.
Which equipment does Birchmeier recommend for pest control?
Birchmeier’s professional pest-control brochure covers liquid sprayers, foamers, powder dusters, lances and supporting equipment. Choose for the intended formulation and application. For the AS 1200, the brochure distinguishes the MV 850 pest-control nozzle from the NF 125 disinfection nozzle.
How often should I clean and maintain my sprayer?
Follow the operating manual and liquid supplier’s instructions. Clean after use where required and check hoses, seals and fittings regularly. Release pressure as instructed before opening or servicing the equipment. Use cleaning agents approved for the model.
How do I find the correct spare part?
Have the sprayer model, article number and version ready. Check its parts diagram and match the connections and seal specification. Photographs of the product label and worn part help Agralan identify a suitable replacement.
